Astellas Pharma US/Frank Maier Award

Award History
Frank Maier, a journalist, and his wife Ginnie, published “Sweet Reprieve” in 1991. This book chronicled his journey from onset to diagnosis to liver failure. Maier received a liver transplant in 1987. Unfortunately he lost his battle and died in December of 1990. His legacy of triumph and inspiration continues to touch the readers of his book. This award honors Maier’s effort to spread the message regarding the need for organ donors.
