The uncertainty of DCD donations combined with age, co-morbidities, etc. can be discouraging. Congrats on your success!
Gigi Sommerauer

RE: Age limits

Hi John,

We look at the age on a case by case scenario, given history and current clinical presentation. We did have a DCD case of a 70 year old that was successful, but I think we can all agree that once you start pushing the envelope above the 60+ age most transplant surgeons become pretty conservative, livers most definitely they start falling out above age 45-50. As a side note this is a great forum, thanks for setting it up.

Tim Snyder-CCEMTP,CPTC

Advanced Practice Coordinator

Gift of Life Donor Program

Philadelphia,PA

RE: Age limits

Thanks for your input!

45 is pretty conservative, 55 seems reasonable depending on the situation.

RE: Age limits

Officially 55, but organ/MD on call dependent over age 45.

Age limits

Good evening all!
Curious about the attached question!

John
