is the transplant community giving any input to this new CMS project? I am wondering how it will affect our tissue typing specimens as well as the pre-evaluation piece.

we are planning to start seeing Kidney & panc patients 1 week after discharge to : 1) evaluate knowledge of post care, 2) assess wound & potential for complications, 3) assure we have all support services in place.

does anyone do this?

suggestions re clinic format?

I am thinking of suggesting a patient history questionnaire to ask key items that will key us in.

I would like to know how many trips to the transplant center are required for the kidney transplant recipient post transplant for the first 3 months. We (National Living Donor Assistance Center) are trying to quantify the travel costs for a kidney recipient after the transplant procedure.

How many trips to the transplant center per week for the first 3 months?

what is the process for supplying tissue typing supplies to your patients on the wait list? who does this?

I'm wondering what the consensus is out there on how you pay for wait list maintenance tests requirements, i.e. cardiac testing, mammogram, pap, colonoscopy. Do you pay of the annual tests under your organ acquisition cost center? or do you have the pts. insurance pay for it?

once patients are accepted in your center as an appropriate candidate for the deceased list -who & how is the summary individualized? I have heard that some centers have a "listing sheet" that the surgeon fills out & signs and then the coordinator enters the info into UNET.

I would be interested in see everyones process.
