Our Transplant Unit Assistant (Secretary) sends out monthly reminders to the dialysis center that have patients listed for transplant. The letter instructs them to contact the HLA lab for supplies. The HLA Labs sents out a bulk shipment of supplies when they are requested. The HLA Lab bills the transplant program for PRA testing and postage. A 6 month quantity of supplies are sent directly to preemptive patients so that they can get their monthly PRA done. Charges for venipuncture are paid by the transplant office. S. When a patient is added to our waiting list a request goes to our Outreach Lab. They send the patients kits to use for sending samples back to our center (University of Minnesota). There are 6 kits sent at a time & include; instructions, lab slip, styrofoam box, ziplock bag, pre-addressed postage paid mailing sleeve. There is also a re-order slip they can fill out when they run out of kits. The only thing the lab or dialysis unit has to supply is that actual blood tubes. Overall, this system works pretty slick. I think that by providing the kits & pre-paying postage we get pretty good compliance & accuracy.

what is the process for supplying tissue typing supplies to your patients on the wait list? who does this?

do you pay for postage & how is this done?
