I'm in the process of rewriting many of our policies and would be interested in what other center do as far as nutritional assessments for patients especisally those that are not on dialysis. Do all your patients see a dietician as part of the evaluation?

Also would like to see other centers pre-transplant, Transplant and post op care plans if anyone is willing to share.

Hepatitis B core antibody positive living donor

I am looking for feedback regarding use of hepatitis B core antibody positive donor livers from living donors in hepatitis B surface antibody negative recipients. I assume prophylaxis for the recipient with hepatitis B immunoglobulin and two oral agents, but my concern is whether recipient insurance will cover this expense given the circumstances. Typically we only use core antibody positive livers in recipients with positive antibody titers, but we now have a live donor and recipient pair and are considering the possibility given the recipient's degree of illness and the low probability that she will receive a deceased donor graft in our region. I practice in Region 1.

Decrease in living donors being medically approved??

We have the impression (no hard data yet) that it is getting more difficult to get a living kidney donor medically approved. Has anyone else seen this? Any reasons or opinion why?
