Officially 55, but organ/MD on call dependent over age 45.

| Thanks for your input! 45 is pretty conservative, 55 seems reasonable depending on the situation.

| Hi John, We look at the age on a case by case scenario, given history and current clinical presentation. We did have a DCD case of a 70 year old that was successful, but I think we can all agree that once you start pushing the envelope above the 60+ age most transplant surgeons become pretty conservative, livers most definitely they start falling out above age 45-50. As a side note this is a great forum, thanks for setting it up. Tim Snyder-CCEMTP,CPTC Advanced Practice Coordinator Gift of Life Donor Program Philadelphia,PA

| I appreciate hearing about your successful (older) DCD donor, Tim. The uncertainty of DCD donations combined with age, co-morbidities, etc. can be discouraging. Congrats on your success! Gigi Sommerauer

| We have changed our DCD protocol. We do DCD's up to age 59, but we do not do any DCD's (ages 50 - 59) that would be considered ECD DCD by the kidney ECD criteria provided by UNOS.

We wouldn't do DCD that would also meet ECD criteria. However, we would consider up to the age of 60 depending on donor characteristics, organ function, expected time from to pass away after WLST.
