We are performing an evidence-based project focused on post-operative constipation. Our ultimate goal would be to have a constipation management protocol that the doctors/midlevels could initiate and staff nurses could use to manage post-operative constipation. Does your institution have any practice guidelines, protocols, or order sets that deal with management of this problem? We would appreciate any information you would be willing to share with us.
