ABTC Certification for Clinical and Procurement
Transplant Clinicians
The American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC) is an independent, self-supporting credentialing organization for transplant professionals. NATCO sponsored ABTC at its inception, and ABTC became a separate entity in 1988, shortly before the first administration of the certification examinations.
ABTC formulates policy for the profession, establishes educational standards and certifies members. Practitioners who pass the certification examination and meet the competency and certification standards as established by ABTC, become members of the American Board for Transplant Certification. ABTC provides three types of certification, depending on the area of specialty.
- Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC)
- Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC)
- Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN)
The CCTC and CPTC certification
examinations for transplant coordinators are offered at AMP Assessment
Centers across the United States. AMP has at least one assessment
center in each state. Testing is available via computer at 9:00
a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each weekday (excluding holidays). Locate
Assessment Centers. Dates and locations for upcoming
examinations are provided on ABTC's web site.
