Currently she works as an outpatient transplant dietitian at Penn Medicine in Philadelphia, working primarily with liver transplant and lung transplant patients. This presentation explores how anti-obesity medications (AOMs) can help patients with obesity meet eligibility criteria for organ transplantation. Participants will review FDA-approved obesity medications, including their indications, contraindications, and expected weight-loss outcomes. The session will also highlight the important role of the registered dietitian in supporting patients on AOM therapy through nutrition counseling and side-effect management. Finally, a real-world example will demonstrate how anti-obesity medication management can be integrated into transplant center care to expand transplant access.
