2025 Awards

Golnaz

We are pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2025 Jeanette Hasse Distinguished Transplant Dietitian Award is Golnaz Friedman, MS, RD, CCTD.

The Jeanette Hasse Distinguished Transplant Dietitian Award recognizes a Registered Dietitian who has advanced transplant nutrition through patient care, education, research, innovation, and service. Award criteria include: 1) meaningful impact on transplant nutrition practice, 2) leadership in promoting transplant nutrition and transplant dietitians, and 3) significant professional accomplishments.

Golnaz Friedman has been a transplant dietitian for nine years at UC Davis Health, where she now serves as Outpatient Dietitian Supervisor and Senior Transplant Dietitian. She has led major improvements in transplant nutrition care, including expanding the transplant RD team, developing standardized dietitian competencies, and redesigning functional status testing to improve pre-transplant identification of risk. Her leadership extends to QAPI initiatives, transplant research, and mentoring new transplant dietitians.

Golnaz has contributed extensively to national transplant nutrition education through presentations, abstracts, and manuscript submissions including helping publish the groundbreaking paper “A Standardized Framework for Transplant-Specific Competencies for Dietitians”.  She actively supports the Living Donor Community of Practice through the American Society of Transplantation.  Her colleagues describe her as a passionate clinician, mentor, and advocate whose work has elevated transplant nutrition practice within her center and beyond.

Please join us in congratulating Golnaz Friedman as the 2025 recipient of the Jeanette Hasse Distinguished Transplant Dietitian Award.

We are pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2025 NATCO NextGen Emerging Leader in Transplant Nutrition Award is Megan Marie A. Flores, MS, RD, CCTD, CSOWM.

The NATCO NextGen Emerging Leader Award recognizes an early-career dietitian who has made significant contributions to transplant nutrition through excellence in patient care, education, research, and service.

Megan Flores has quickly become an influential leader at Banner University Medical Center–Phoenix, where she serves as Lead Transplant Dietitian. She has developed standardized transplant nutrition pathways, created system-wide patient education videos and materials, and established Arizona’s first Nutrition-Focused Solid Abdominal Transplant Support Group. She was also instrumental in launching a transplant patient food pantry and was named ASU’s Preceptor of the Year for her mentorship.

Megan is an active educator and speaker, presenting at the NATCO Nutrition Conference, the American Liver Foundation, and regional transplant and nephrology meetings. She also contributes to transplant research, including the development of a novel Transplant Nutrition Index to identify malnutrition and frailty.

Please join us in congratulating Megan Flores as the 2025 NATCO NextGen Emerging Leader in Transplant Nutrition Award recipient.
